There are many life lessons that one could take from chapters 1-5. One is that you cannot live off of the land without help, and you must have some sort of knowledge on what you can and or cannot eat. Another life lesson, and this is probably the most important life lesson throughout the entire book, is to follow your dreams. Before Chris did not lead a happy life. He had great grades, was well off in terms of money, and a great athelete. But he was never happy until he abandoned his family and all of his possesions to follow his belief to be taken away from earth. Im not saying for people to abandon their families and all their possesions. All I am trying to say is that if u have a dream, then follow it, no matter what the cost. Just do what you believe in.
